Security and Data Protection

Single-tenant isolation

No co-tenancy with other customers. Your dedicated server eliminates multi-tenant risks: cross-tenant data leaks, shared-resource vulnerabilities, and noisy-neighbor performance issues.

EU data residency

Servers run in ISO 27001-certified Hetzner data centers in Germany. Offsite backups are stored with Scaleway in France. These are the only two sub-processors. No US-based services in the data path unless you opt in to Cloudflare CDN/DDoS protection. Hosting in other regions, including the US and Singapore, is available on request for organizations with local data residency requirements.

Encryption

All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2/1.3, HSTS enforced). Offsite backups are encrypted with AES-256 before leaving the server.

For organizations that require encryption beyond transit and backups, two additional options are available on request. LUKS full-disk encryption (AES-256) encrypts the entire storage volume at OS level, making data unreadable if a physical disk is removed or decommissioned. AMD SEV / SEV-SNP memory encryption protects data in use by encrypting your VM's memory with a dedicated secure processor on the CPU, using a key the hypervisor and host operator cannot access ("confidential computing").

Access controls

Server access restricted to SSH key authentication only. MFA enforced for all staff with infrastructure access, hardware security keys preferred. Least-privilege access, quarterly reviews, revocation within one business day on offboarding.

Your wiki users get two-factor authentication (2FA/MFA) and role-based permissions to control who can read, edit, or administer content. Single Sign-On (SSO) can be enabled via OpenID Connect, supporting Microsoft / Azure AD, Google Workspace, Okta, Auth0, GitLab, Discord, and other identity providers.

Backups and disaster recovery

Two independent backup layers:

  • Daily server-level snapshots via Hetzner (7-day retention).
  • Daily encrypted offsite backups to Scaleway (AES-256 with dedicated key per wiki, 8 daily / 6 weekly / 6 monthly retention). Append-only storage: the backup server cannot delete its own backups.

Disaster recovery tested quarterly.

Monitoring and patching

24/7 monitoring with automated alerting. Infrastructure managed as code with peer-reviewed changes and CI checks before deployment. Security updates applied promptly.

Compliance and agreements

Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and Technical and Organizational Measures (TOMs) documentation available on request. Custom hosting agreements for organizations with specific contractual requirements. Our infrastructure supports compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and sector-specific frameworks.
